Advanced Software Products Group (ASPG) has released version 2.4 of their ERQ (Easy RACF Query) software. ERQ simplifies the task of administering IBM’s RACF utility through the provision of a fully customizable API, the automation of common RACF functions, the capability for RACF analysts to create their own custom applications via a set of straightforward ISPF services, and other functionality that allows ERQ users to better administer their RACF installation with little to no learning curve.
The latest enhancements to ERQ are designed to reduce the workload on RACF administrators by providing them a vastly extended range of field options to choose from, more thorough report generation including DCE, NDS, PROXY, OMVS and OVM segments, and the ability for items within RACF to be searchable – and all accomplished through new enhancements to the User panel, the Report/Group panel, and the RACF command panels. The new release also makes it even easier for RACF users and administrators to reset a user’s RACF password, functionality that is frequently of importance.
According to ASPG President and CEO Cathryn Thompson, the latest release of ERQ continues a long ASPG tradition of making complicated tasks easy to perform. “We all know the power inherent to RACF, but administrators and analysts also know the complexity that can attend to that power,” said Thompson. “ERQ has always been about reducing that complexity, allowing users to intuitively generate complex RACF commands and execute those commands in fewer steps than would otherwise be possible in RACF.
