Naples, FL – December 2015
Advanced Software Product Group, Inc. (ASPG) has released version 4.2 of its enterprise self-service password reset and synchronization solution, ReACT. As part of your identity management protocol, ReACT helps close the security exposures opened by a forgotten password. It securely authenticates user requests for a password reset and then establishes a permanent, immediately usable password on all affected systems. With the release of v4.2, ReACT presents enhanced security for the end user and the Help Desk, as well as security against external and internal threats.
ReACT v4.2 introduces additional security measures for end user access through CAPTCHA, Help Desk specific challenge questions, and a mandatory password history policy. CAPTCHA, a program that generates distorted test text, will ensure those accessing ReACT are human and not a bot intruder. The Help Desk set of challenge questions allows the end user the option to configure a set of challenge questions for use only when interacting and authenticating with Help Desk personnel. This permits the end user the freedom to utilize private information for their self-service set of challenge questions with the knowledge that no one, not even the Help Desk personnel, will be able to view this personal information. In addition to the added layer of privacy, the separate challenge question sets prevent Help Desk personnel from using challenge question credentials to impersonate the end user in an unauthorized manner. Lastly, ReACT’s mandatory password history setting prevents the end user from using recycled passwords. Through the enforcement of regularly creating new, unused passwords, ReACT provides protection against the hacking of universal or long-term passwords.
Along with the enhancements for end user access, ReACT v4.2 includes increased options for security, system, and authentication settings for the Help Desk, allowing for considerable customization and control. Help Desk personnel can now select challenge questions as an optional rather than required authentication form, in turn providing a more efficient configuration for their end users. ReACT v4.2 provides flexible password complexity options that allow your organization to provide a more granular password policy. Also, while previous versions of ReACT allowed for the unlocking of specific end users or groups of end users, ReACT v4.2 allows the Help Desk to unlock all ReACT IDs on the system at once.
An innovative feature which assists the end user as well as the Help Desk is ReACT’s Offline Access Recovery (OAR) component. OAR provides remote, traveling, and contractual users device access while not connected to any network. OAR securely allows an approved end user to access their device without requiring network access, VPN credentials, or an Internet connection. Through the utilization of OAR, an end user is able to overcome the standard login barriers in order to quickly, securely, and efficiently maintain their workflow. With proven cryptography in use behind the scenes and all activity recorded, the device operations are protected and monitored by the proper authorities of the end user’s organization. Should an end user have their device stolen or compromised, the Help Desk can easily disable the utilization of OAR on said device.
Additional features in v4.2 are the migration to MSXML6 and the incorporation of 3 additional languages. ReACT now offers a selection of 10+ languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Polish, Japanese, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Korean, and Portuguese. As with previous releases, ReACT provides security professionals, Help Desk teams, and corporate Auditors with additional information security assurance by logging and reporting all activities related to password resets. ReACT has the ability to provide automated alerts to managers for specific events, such as a consistent reset failure or perceived attempts at hacking. Furthermore, ReACT provides 5 different authentication methods (e-mail, challenge questions, image recognition, SMS, Active Directory) for shops to utilize multi-factor or two-factor authentication for greater security and/or mandate compliance.
ReACT is an actively supported product, receiving constant updates and improvements. ASPG adheres to a continuous development cycle and a schedule of frequent releases, and their support team is available 24 hours, every day of the year. Interested parties may read more about the ReACT password reset software on the ASPG website. Free trials of the software are also available.
